Juanita “June” Bryant Wooten, 91, went home to her LORD on Thursday, September 26, 2024.
June passed peacefully surrounded by family at the home of her daughter, Carolyn, in Independence, Mo.
She was the second of three daughters born to William Arthur Bryant and Alta Jane Roberts Bryant on June 12, 1933. She grew up in Ada, Oklahoma and graduated from Byng High School.
June met and married her love, Billy Joe Wooten, on October 20, 1951. He preceded her in death after 42 years of marriage on December 6, 1993. She is also predeceased by her youngest daughter, Pamela Rice of Independence.
June had a long and varied office career; beginning her first job as a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone company. In the early 80’s she semi-retired to accompany her husband on business travels across the US. They created many memories and friends along the way. They also enjoyed treating their grandchildren to travel experiences; traveling to China, Alaska and the Florida beaches. After Bill passed, she returned to work, fully retiring at age 75.
June will be remembered as a fabulous cook, having a green thumb, and leaving a legacy of fierce and loyal love of family. She embraced the title of “hostess with the mostest”, bringing her loved ones together for delicious food and good times. She took pride in her appearance never venturing out without her lipstick!
June is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Knorr (Kirk) of Houston, TX and Carolyn Talley (Rick) of Independence in addition to five grandchildren, Stephanie Lichenstein (John) of Houston, Tx; Jennifer Johnson, Rebecca Carson (Robert); Sarah Beth Schulz and Russell Hill all of Independence, Mo; and eleven great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024, at 11am at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Independence, MO. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Pallbearers assisting at the graveside: Robert Carson, Liam Carson, Simon Schulz, Nicholas Havlik, Jackson Hill, and Gunner Hill.
