Judith Ann Peffer, fondly known as Judy, passed away on May 9, 2024, in Independence, Missouri. She was born on November 9, 1939, in Kansas City, Kansas. Judy was a remarkable woman known for her exceptional work ethic and dedication. Judith's departure after battling breast cancer and kidney disease exemplifies the strength and courage she displayed throughout her life's challenges, especially during her three years of dialysis. Her presence will be deeply missed but her memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Judy's career was marked by hard work and perseverance. She juggled multiple jobs simultaneously throughout her life. For over 60 years, she served as an underwriter in the insurance industry until her retirement in 2020. Additionally, Judy dedicated over two decades of her life to working at Indian Creek Nursing Home before retiring in 2019. Her commitment to her work and unwavering spirit left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Apart from her professional endeavors, Judy also found joy in various hobbies and interests. She particularly relished trips to Branson, Missouri, and cherished moments spent at dinner theater with her beloved son, Stephen.
Judy is survived by her loving son, Stephen Peffer of Independence, Missouri, who meant the world to her. In this time of grief, Stephen finds solace in the cherished memories he shared with his mother. In addition to Stephen, Judy is also survived by her sister, Sandra Kay Ward, of Prescott, Arizona.
Judy is preceded in death by her husband Robert Dale Peffer. She now reunites with him in eternal peace. She is also reunited with her son, Robert Dale Peffer, Jr.; father, William Charles Smith; mother, Frances Alma (Ingram) Smith; and brother, Bill Smith.
A visitation will be held in memory of Judith Ann "Judy" Peffer on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Carson-Speaks Chapel in Independence from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM the following day, May 17, 2024, at the same location. The burial will follow the Funeral Service at Mound Grove Cemetery.
Throughout her life's journey, Judy touched the hearts of many with her kindness and perseverance. Her legacy will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her.
