Virginia Kanan

Virginia M. Kanan, 81, Independence, MO passed away April 25, 2009. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Burial to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice. Virginia was born November 25, 1927 in Kansas City, MO. She was adopted and raised by her grandparents, John E. and Grace E. Anderson. She was employed with Armco Steel for 23 years as secretary. Virginia was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi-Omega Xi Chapter and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards, jigsaw puzzles, yard work and doing crossword puzzles. Survivors include her son Steve Chasteen and his wife Susan of Independence; granddaughter Nikole Detel and her husband Troy; grandsons, Dustin and Craig Chasteen all of Independence.
