Katherine Alice “Kathy” Glass, of Raytown, Missouri, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 1, 2024. She was 93 years of age.
Kathy was born on January 13, 1931, to Minor and Cecile (Fogel) Dilley in Jackson County, Missouri. She attended Northeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri. On September 25, 1948, Kathy married her first love, Lavern Hunt, who tragically passed away in a drowning accident in 1966. She married her second love, James Glass, on January 6, 1968. Kathy worked as a waitress at J.C. Penney from 1972-1988. She was a devoted member of Norfleet Baptist Church, Eastern Star Chapter 101, and the VFW Auxiliary Post 1829. In her free time, Kathy enjoyed playing cards and Bingo with her friends, collecting Boyd Bears and Precious Moments, watching Wheel of Fortune, and especially the NASCAR races.
She is preceded in her passing by her first husband, Lavern Hunt; her second husband, James Glass; and her parents, Minor and Cecile (Fogle) Dilley. She is survived by her son, David W. Hunt (wife Sandy); her grandchildren, Anne McClain (Bronson) and Patrick Hunt (Ashley); her great-grandchildren, Addison McClain, Braeden Hunt, Landon Hunt, and Olivia Hunt; her step-great-grandchildren, Peyton McClain and Brennen McClain; and her step great-great grandson, Weston Gorham.
Kathy will have a visitation at Speaks Suburban Chapel on Friday, September 6, 2024, from 9-10 am with service beginning at 10 am. Friends and family are invited to meet at Mt. Washington Cemetery at 11:30 am for her graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Norfleet Baptist Church (5512 Norfleet Rd. Kansas City, MO 74133) or Cedarhurst of Blue Springs (20551 E Trinity Place, Blue Springs, MO 64015).
The family would like to express appreciation to the staff of Cedarhurst of Blue Springs Assisted Living for their loving and compassionate care during her short time living there.
