It is with heavy hearts that we announce the untimely passing of our beloved Katherine Colby Anne Reece, affectionately known as Kate. Kate brought laughter, joy, and a touch of magic into the lives of all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Kate's journey began on June 1, 2019, in Nevada, Missouri. From the very beginning, it was clear that she possessed an extraordinary zest for life. Her silliness was infectious, brightening even the gloomiest days and bringing smiles to faces of those she loved. Kate had an insatiable curiosity about the world around her. From a young age, she was captivated by unicorns. Mere mention of these mythical creatures would ignite her eyes with excitement. The only thing more exciting than unicorns was GLITTER! Kate loved the colors pink and purple and all things girly. She had most recently found that she had a knack for fishing as well.
Unfortunately, tragedy struck on September 17, 2023, when Kate's light was extinguished much too soon. Her loss leaves us grappling with an immense sorrow that words cannot express. While we mourn her absence, let us also remember her infectious laughter, boundless enthusiasm, and endless capacity for love. Her playful spirit will forever dance through our memories, urging us to find joy even in the darkest corners.
Kate is survived by her mother, Leanna Reece (Lucas Buxton) and father, Joseph Reece (Taylor Romero); brother, Benjamin Reece, Grandparents and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 29th from 6-8pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri. Kate’s funeral service will be on Saturday, September 30th at Waldo Ave Restoration Church in Independence, MO with burial to follow at Six Mile Cemetery. The family would like to encourage everyone to wear Kate's favorite colors, pink and purple.
