Norman Kays

Norman Kays, 85, of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, August 20, 2011. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2011 at Blue Springs Cemetery. Norman was born June 1, 1926 in Versailles, MO to Hugh and Lela (Bonine) Kays. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Mr. Kays was a member of Susquehanna Baptist Church and the Independence Masonic Lodge #76. He retired from Lake City in 1988 after 20 years of faithful service. Norman was passionate about fishing and later in life was a caregiver to many. Mr. Kays is survived by his son Gary Kays and wife Patty; grandchildren Nick Kays and wife Dominique, Allyssa Kays; great-grandson Ronan; and by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Norma Kays in July 2008; and by four brothers and one sister.
