William “Bill” Allen Kean, 83, formerly of Independence, MO passed away February 8, 2011 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron, MO. A visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. Masonic Service on Sunday, February 13, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the Suburban Chapel, with burial to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Bill was born June 21, 1927 in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Northeast High School; Electronic School; Longview CC; and received a BA in Psychology from UMKC. He was also a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, serving during WWII. He worked in various occupations including Iceman, Salesman, Electronic Technician at Wilcox Electric and as a Supervisor at Allis-Chalmers and KW Dart Truck Company. He retired from Pittman Manufacturing as a Foreman, followed by various part-time jobs during retirement. The last several years, he has lived at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron, MO. During his retirement, Bill enjoyed becoming a Master Mason, member of McDonald Lodge #324 in Independence, and a Shriner at Ararat in Kansas City. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Dorothy Ann Nordstrom (Kean) of Clinton, MO. Bill is survived by two sons: W. Alan Kean (Paula) of Independence, MO and Owen A. Kean of Greenwood, MO; one daughter, Claire E. Lindsey (Wm “Skip”); brother, Ronald D. Kean (Janet); four grandchildren: David Kean, Sara Faulkner (Kean), Jeremy Lindsey, Heather Donahoo (Lindsey); three great granddaughters; and Ethel (Austin) Kean, ex-wife and still late life friend.
