Neal E. Kellerman, 83, of Independence, MO, peacefully left this life to be with our Savior Tuesday, February 9, 2010. He was born January 22, 1927 in West Plaines, MO. Neal was a person who met no strangers, would help anyone and was a prime example to his family and friends. He was of Baptist faith, a dedicated husband and family man. He served in the Army Air Corps in 1946. He worked in a rock quarry, drove for Pace School Bus Service, he retired as a Captain of the Independence Police Department, and served much time with Sutherland Lumber Company working in the plumbing department. He was fondly referred to as “Jack of all trades, master of none”. He is survived by his most precious gem, his wife of 46 years Doris Kellerman; three daughters, Joyce Ann Lust and husband Ron “his buddy”, Andrea Fitzpatrick of Independence and Robin Wilkerson and husband Steve of Exelo, MO; grandsons, Kevin Turpin and wife Cheri, Kent Turpin and wife Jennifer; great granddaughter, Zoey. In addition he leaves behind two brothers, Alan Cavaness and wife Doris, Cecil Cavaness; as well as many nieces, nephews, six more grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Neal was preceded in death by his natural parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Cavaness; his adoptive parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Kellerman; one daughter, Neala “Nicki” Kellerman-Masden; two brothers; and two sisters. He will always be remembered and deeply missed. A visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 12, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the chapel, with burial to follow at Floral Hills Cemetery.
