Kelli Anne Fisher, born on March 28, 1962, in Independence, Missouri, passed away on January 3, 2026. Kelli was a vibrant soul who brought so much warmth and joy to everyone she knew.
A graduate of Fort Osage High School, Kelli pursued further education and earned a degree in criminal justice from Central Missouri State University, now known as the University of Central Missouri. Kelli worked in a handful of distinct positions throughout her career, but her most recent role was as a dedicated employment services supervisor for Swope Health. Her passion for helping others was evident in her professional endeavors, where she championed the well-being of those she served. Kelli garnered respect and admiration from her peers and clients alike, embodying compassion and empathy in her daily work. In both her professional and personal life, Kelli was a fireball of energy with a loyal heart, always putting the needs of others above her own. She was a devoted grandmother, lovingly referred to as "Mimi", and absolutely adored her granddaughters. Her unwavering support made her the family's biggest cheerleader, never missing an event—be it a practice, a game, or a significant life milestone. Kelli had the incredible ability to make everyone feel like her favorite person and so, so loved. Her laughter was infectious, and she cultivated an atmosphere filled with love and liveliness, especially during holidays, instilling a sense of magic and celebration in every moment spent together. Kelli loved playing spades and especially loved her homemade board game of “Murder.” She genuinely enjoyed all time spent with family. Kelli was famous for her homemade enchiladas, chocolate chip brownies, and her Mississippi mud cake.
In her leisure time, Kelli enjoyed watching Lifetime, Hallmark, and crime shows, with Perry Mason being a long-time favorite. Her love for Christmas was unmatched; she would keep a tree up year-round, decorating it for each holiday that passed. Kelli was known for her ability to make Christmas special, creating a joyful environment for her family through thoughtful gift giving, adhering to their cherished tradition of opening gifts one at a time. She was an unrivaled gift-giver and was notorious for checking each one of her family's wish lists. She was an exceptional listener and made it a point to check in with her family regularly, fostering strong relationships with each of them. Her nurturing spirit earned her the affectionate title of "mother hen" among those who knew and loved her; she was a mother to many more than just her children. The relationships she formed and nurtured throughout her life meant the world to her, and she undoubtedly cherished her family- whether biological or chosen- above all other things in her life.
Kelli's passing was preceded by her parents, William "Billy" Jr. and Margaret Canon, her beloved daughter, Emili Fisher, her sister, Kaysi Danner, as well as her grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Her legacy of love and laughter live on through her husband and best friend, Chris Fisher; her sons, C.J. Fisher, and his wife, Mackenzie, Codi Fisher and his partner, Bri Lewis, and beloved family adopted member, Tim Flora; her granddaughters, Joni Alyse Fisher, Maysilee Anne Fisher, and Layla Grace Varron; her sister, lovingly called by Kelli as, Kerri “Ruthie” Adams (Jerome); her aunt, "best friend", Paula Laney and her significant other, Don; her nephew, Will Vanderpool and his wife Tami, and their six children, as well as cousins, aunts and uncles, many great nieces and nephews, and many other extended family members that loved her dearly.
Visitation will be held on January 9, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri. A funeral service will take place on January 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM, followed by a graveside service at New Salem Cemetery at 11:45 AM.
