Mark Kendrick

October 30, 1962 — March 23, 2009

Mark Allen Kendrick, 46, Independence, MO passed away Monday, March 23, 2009 from complications with diabetes.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. Independence, MO. Graveside services will be private. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM Sunday at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.

Mark was born October 30, 1962 in Kansas City, MO the son of Gerald L. “Jerry” and Phyllis (Staggs) Kendrick. He attended Englewood Christian School and St. Mary’s High School. He was of the Baptist faith. Mark enjoyed the simple things in life. Mark was a loving husband, dad, papa and son, uncle and brother. He loved his family and friends dearly. Mark was a great inspiration to all the people in his life. He lived his life with honor, integrity and dignity. He stood firm in what he believed in, even if it wasn’t right. Mark was an honest man, and often said “You may not like me, but you will respect me.” He was with a rock band “War Horse” with his son Sean (his singer). He played guitar, and was voted 5th best guitarist in Kansas City, MO in 2007. He loved his country. Mark was of Cherokee descent and was very proud of his Native American Heritage. He loved working outdoors and working with his hands. Mark especially loved flowers. He was a great chef, and enjoyed cooking and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Mark is survived by his wife, Cathy Kendrick; children; Sean and Catrina, of Independence; 5 grandchildren, Hallie, Christian, Triniti, Brandon, Jr. Markus Allen; parents, Jerry and Phyllis (Staggs) Kendrick of Independence; sister, Rachel Cox and her husband Michael of Lee’s Summit; and nephew Austin.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents Jack and Reba (Floyd) Staggs and Buck and Ruth Kendrick.
