Glen Kennedy

November 30, 1922 — March 15, 2010

Glen E Kennedy, 87, of Blue Springs, MO., passed away, March 15, 2010, and went home to be with his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Born 11-30-1922 in Harwood, Mo to Archie Burl & Laura Catherine (DeLozier) Kennedy. He graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in 1941 and moved to Kansas City, MO in 1942. Glen was drafted and served in the Army Air Force from January 1943 to February 1946. He served in the European Theater in World War II. He worked at Sheffield Steel from 1947 and retired from then named Armco Steel in 1988. He married Ida Mary (Garland) Kennedy on November 14, 1947. They enjoyed over 62 years of marriage. Glen and Ida were members of Plaza Heights Baptist Church and he was an ordained Deacon. Children: Glenda Boyd of Blue Springs, MO. Sherry & Jim Nielsen of Sunrise Beach, MO, Kevin and Gina Kennedy of Lee’s Summit, MO; Grandchildren: Bryan and Rebecca (Townsend) Boyd, Sean Nielsen, Sydney and Conor Kennedy. Four Great Grandchildren, Sarah, Joshua Boyd, Kayla and Norah Townsend. Proceeded in death by his parents and nine siblings. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 17, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Speaks Suburban Chapel at 39th and Hwy 291.Funeral Services are to be held on Thursday, March 18th at 10:00 AM at Plaza Heights Baptist Church, 1500 SW Clark Road, Blue Springs, MO. Internment to be at the Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Memorial contribution may be made to the Ministries of the Plaza Heights Baptist Church.
