Ida Mary Kennedy 86, of Blue Springs, MO, passed away on February 21, 2015. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 25, at the Chapel. Burial will be in Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. Ida was born on December 21, 1928 in Hepler, KS to Charles and Catherine (Hopkins) Garland. She grew up on a farm in Cedar County, MO, and graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in 1946. Ida was a devoted Baptist serving several Churches, including Beverly Hills Baptist, Birchwood Baptist, and Plaza Heights. Through the years she served as Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader, organized and was Director of the Senior Citizen’s (Busy Bees). Ida was a member of American Business Women’s Assoc., and was President and Woman of the Year of the INKARA Chapter. She was an accomplished seamstress, and a committed homemaker. Ida is survived by; daughters Glenda Boyd and Sherry Nielsen; son Kevin Kennedy; sisters Irene Hardin, Zita Curtis, and Wanda Cully; grandchildren Bryan (Rachel) Boyd, Rebecca (Dave) Townsend, Sean Nielsen, Sydney Kennedy, and Conor Kennedy, and 5 great grandchildren. Ida is preceded in death by; husband Glen Kennedy; brothers Glen Garland, Oris Garland, and Russell Garland; and a sister, Dorothy Brosam.
