Walter W. Kibler, 97, of Grain Valley, MO passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Carson Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service starting at 9:00 a.m.. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery. Walter was born August 13, 1914 in Wheeling, MO to James and Sally Kibler. He graduated from the University of Missouri Columbia with a degree in Agriculture in 1938. Mr. Kibler proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired from the Federal Government in 1972. Walter was a huge Mizzou fan, and was a 59 year football season ticket holder! He enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening in his spare time. Walter is survived by his companion of 21 years, Juanita Jacobs; daughter Sandra Gray; sons J. Kirk Kibler and wife Amy, Dennis Kibler and wife Pamela; grandchildren Andrew Gray, Nicki Harriman, Brian Kibler, Bree Sontheimer; nine great-grandchildren; sister Mary Frances Petros; brother-in-law John Irvin. He was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Ellen in ’62, and his second wife Margaret in ’77; by his son-in-law Bruce Gray.
