Samuel Roy Kidd, 88, Raytown, MO passed from this life on Jan. 30, 2012 in Phoenix, AZ. Services will be 2:30 pm, Monday, Feb. 6 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Visitation will begin at 1:30 pm before the service at the chapel.
Sam was born May, 26, 1923 in Cherryvale, KS to Guy & Edna (Catlin) Kidd. He attended Kansas University and served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during WW II. He married Helen Martin on June 21, 1952 in Kansas City, MO. He worked in the insurance business for forty years and retired as an underwriter and manager from Zurich American Insurance Company in 1990. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Sam was preceded in death by six siblings. He is survived by his wife of nearly sixty years Helen Kidd, of the home; son Bruce Kidd and wife Teresa, Independence, MO; daughter Jennifer Yates and husband Joel, Phoenix, AZ; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
