Ann Kirkpatrick

Ann Bernadine (Askey) Kirkpatrick, 93, of Boonville, MO passed away, Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the Cooper County Memorial Hospital in Boonville, MO. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m., until service time Thursday at the chapel. Burial will follow in Leavenworth National Cemetery. Ann was born in Windber, PA, the oldest of 13 children, to John and Anna (Ruskay) Askey. At age 14 she went to work in New York City and was a live-in housekeeper for a doctor and his wife. She also helped the doctor in his office with the children. She met her husband, Elmer Ray Kirkpatrick, Jr. on the boardwalk at Coney Island, New York in the fall of 1942 when he was on shore leave from the Navy. They married on November 16, 1943 and enjoyed 49 years of marriage until Elmer passed away in 1991. In 1951 Ann and Ray moved to the Independence area where she lived until 2007 when it became necessary for her to move closer to family in Boonville. She resided at Hartmann Village for two years prior to her death. Ann was a member of the St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Independence, MO for many years and was active in church functions and had many close friends. She is survived by; her daughter, Deborah Moher and husband Michael of Boonville, MO; a grandson, Anthony J. Berry, Jr. and wife Trini of Mesa, AZ; 5 great grandchildren, Cecelia, Christian, Anna, Monica, and Anthony, Jr.; 2 sisters, Pauline Satkovich of Chicago, IL and Betty Nagy of Ohio; 2 brothers, Edward Askey of Windber, PA and Paul Askey of Savannah, GA.
