John D. “Duke” Kleihauer, 83, of Sugar Creek, MO was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at North Kansas City Hospital. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2009 in the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Citizens Civic Relief Commission, 103 S. Sterling, Sugar Creek, MO 64054 or to Messiah Lutheran Church, 613 S. Main, Independence, MO 64050. Burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. John was born July 25, 1926 in Independence, MO to Kenneth and Katherine (Farrand) Kleihauer. Duke proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Amoco Oil Refinery after 35 years of service in 1982. Mr. Kleihauer is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Margaret (Zevecke ) Kleihauer; son Stan Kleihauer; daughter Lori Judy and husband Randy; granddaughters Megan Neidig and husband Nate, Mary Judy and fiancé Jordan McDonald; great-granddaughter Janie; sister Sally Kabrick; brother Jerry Kleihauer. Mr. Kleihauer was preceded in death by his brother Abe and sister Joyce.
