Betty Kleoppel, 80, of Independence, MO passed away February 1, 2009 at N. KC Hospital. A rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m., followed by a visitation until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Independence, MO. Contributions may be made to St. Ann’s Parish or the American Cancer Society. Betty was born April 2, 1928 to James and Aletha (Willard) Salyer and grew up in Waverly, MO. Betty married William C. Kleoppel on August 20, 1947. She had been a member of the TOPS Club, St. Ann’s Altar Society and the Piece Makers Quilt Club. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and sewing. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; five siblings, Robert Salyer, Horace (Bud) Salyer, Harold Salyer, Chas (Dub) Salyer, and Frances who died at birth; a nephew, Thomas Salyer; and a niece, Cheryl Crist. She is survived by her husband, William (Bill) Kleoppel, of the home; six children, Mary Lampton (Larry), Bill Kleoppel, Sue Jasper (Gerald), Paul Kleoppel (Brenda), Barbara Kleoppel and Jeff Kleoppel (Carla); twelve grandchildren, Jason Kleoppel, Kimberly Kueser, Shawn Cunningham, Jill Caracci, Chandra Hamilton, Mallory, Shelby, Jordan, Kaylee and Kendall Kleoppel, Melissa Wilson and James Jasper; as well as ten great grandchildren.
