Juanita Lee Knight, 78, of Independence, MO, passed away, Sunday, January 27, 2008 at Monterey Park Nursing Center. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 31, 2008 at the Christ United Methodist Church. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday at the Stoutland Cemetery in Stoutland, MO. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the Speaks Suburban Chapel and from 10:00 a.m., until service Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Christ United Methodist Church. Juanita was born December 23, 1929 in LaHabra, CA to Jim D. and Tuie Opal (Rogers) Smith. She moved at an early age to Stoutland, MO attending public schools and graduating from Stoutland High School. She was a wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed taking care of family, cooking and growing flowers. She was a active member of the Christ United Methodist Church and former member of the United Methodist Women’s group. She was married to James W. Knight on December 23, 1948; he passed away on May 29, 2006. Survivors include; a daughter, Janice Knight-Jordan of Independence, MO; a sister, Marcheta Vassey of Stoutland, MO; a grandson, James Jordan of Independence and several nieces and nephews.
