Bobby Joe Knox, 58, of Grain Valley, MO, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at KU Medical Center.

Bobby Joe Knox was born on April 15, 1964, in Sedalia, MO, to Bobby and Bonnie (Lutjen) Knox. He grew up in Independence and graduated from Truman High School in 1982. Bobby worked for DST systems for a year. He than began his journey in the Fire sprinkler industry, designing and sales. Over his career he worked for Fire Sprinkler Consultants, General Automatic Sprinklers, Royal Fire Protection and then he currently was Vice President of sales for Century Fire Protection for over 22 years. Bobby also furthered his education while working and attended DeVry Institute and graduated in 2001.

Bobby will be remembered for his love of family and spending time with his grandchildren. He had so many interests over the years; metal detecting, auto body work, hunting, antiquing, and working in the wood shop building Lego tables. His most recent love over the last years was riding his Harley and being a part of the bike community, Elks Lodge, pool league and smoking meat. Bobby was a magnet to those around him with his wit and hilarious personality. He didn’t know a stranger and lit up a crowd. Bobby touched so many lives in his lifetime and was willing to help in any way he could.

Grateful for having shared in his life, are his former wife of 31 years, Rhonda (Richey) Knox, who is the mother of his two sons, Chris Knox (Samantha Stone) and Matt Knox; his 5 grandchildren, McKenna Dinges-Summers, Olivia Knox, Kaesen Knox, Paisley Starling, and Sophia Knox; brother, Rob Knox (Karyn) and sister, Amy Knox Gorbet; nieces, Ashli Oddo (Nick), Kamara Gorbet, Marli Gorbet and Addie Knox; nephew, Alex Knox (Natalie); his beloved four-legged daughter, Dixie.

Over the past year Bobby gained a second family who lit up his world and who he loved so very much. His girlfriend, Tracy Wymore; her children, Hannah Klick (Danny) and Jake Winters (Lexie). He was called “papa” by Tracy’s grandchildren, Hudson, Kendall, Barrett, and Brynlee.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Elks Lodge on Friday, January 6, 2023, 6:00 p.m., at the Elks Lodge, 100 NE Brizendine Rd., Blue Springs, MO 64014.
