David Kobe Sr

May 10, 1931 — April 1, 2013

David Lee Kobe, Sr. 81, Overland Park, KS, passed away Monday, April 1, 2013.

Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2013 at Carson-Speaks Chapel; 1501 W. Lexington Ave, Independence, MO. A celebration of David’s life will follow at 1:00 p.m. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Mausoleum with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Kansas City Hospice.

David was born May 10, 1931 in Sugar Creek, MO the son of Peter J. and Esther (Duggan) Kobe. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War as a Staff Sgt. David attended the General Motors Institute in Flint, MI while being sponsored by the GM Fairfax Plant, he graduated a Engineering Degree. He retired in 1987 after 37 years of service from the Buick Motor Division as District Service Manager and later worked for H&R Block for 17 seasons as office manager and tax preparer. He was a member of the American Legion. David enjoyed reading, sports and golfing.

Survivors include his loving wife, Lorraine Kobe of 60 years; son, David L. Kobe, Jr., and wife Denia; daughters, Theresa A. Kobe and husband Tom Ketcher, Terri R. Hatch and husband Rex; grandchildren, Adam, Jessica, Amanda and Sarah; great grandchildren, Evan, Chelsea, and Lexi. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Peter J. Kobe and Larry Kobe; and his parents.
