Daniel Joseph Konko, 74, of Blue Springs, MO passed away on August 26, 2007 at the Veterans Home in Warrensburg, MO. Cremation is planned with a Memorial Mass to be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at St. John Lalande Catholic Church in Blue Springs, MO. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Daniel was born June 29, 1933 in Hannibal, MO to Daniel J. and Johanna (King) Konko. The family moved to Alton, IL and he graduated from Marquette High School and joined the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He returned from his military service and latter graduated from SIU where he studied under Buckminster Fuller in the School of Design. Dan and another student were chosen to take the mock-up of the Geodesic Dome to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. He was married to Virginia (Bresson) on June 29, 1963. He worked as corrugated container designer for the Alton Box and other companies. In December of 2001 he entered the Missouri Veterans Home with Alzheimer’s disease. Survivors include his wife of 44 years Virginia of the home; a son Michael Konko and his wife Debby of Grain Valley, MO; a daughter Traci VanRiette of Blue Springs, MO; a brother, Jack Konko and his wife Elaine and 4 grandchildren, Michael and Hannah VanRiette and Brittney and Zachary Konko. In lieu of flowers donations to the Blue Springs American Legion post #499 Baseball program or to the Missouri Veterans Home. The family wishes to thank the Veterans Home and Crossroads Hospice for their love and care.
