Wanda Jean Kosmicke, 90, of Independence, MO, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014. A visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Monday, March 3, at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel. Burial will be at Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence, MO. Wanda was born in Independence, MO on November 28, 1923, the eldest of two children born to Edgar C. and Marguerite (Barker) Jones. She was a graduate of William Chrisman High School. Wanda was married to Leon J. “Mickey” Kosmicke in 1942. After his involvement in the military they returned to Independence where their son, Kenton Lane, was born in 1947. Wanda retired from the Missouri State Highway Department and was a long time, devoted, member of the RLDS Church which she attended until her death. In her later years, she enjoyed socializing with her Highway Honeys and playing cards with her fellow Pinochle Players. She is loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends alike. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kent; husband, Leon; and brother, Kenneth L. Jones. Wanda is survived by nephew, Craig S.
