Dorothy Ann Kuhn, 86, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away February 15, 2013. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. with a service to follow at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 20, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 700 NE Chipman Road, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063. Dorothy was born October 7, 1926 in Carrollton, MO to Martin and Mildred Schmidt. She graduated from William Jewell College, where she met her future husband, Elmer Kuhn. They were married May 29, 1948. Dorothy was the owner and proprietor of Liberty House Antiques. She was the past President of the Independence Junior Service League, past President of P.E.O Chapter IK, lifetime member of National Frontier Trails Museum, lifetime member of the Bingham-Waggoner Historical Society, and lifetime member of the Vaile Victorian Society. She was dedicated to her church, her family, volunteering, historical preservation and service to the community where she lived. Dorothy was an avid bridge player and treasured the friendships that she developed through her bridge groups, her community activities and her antique shop. She is survived by her husband, Elmer G. Kuhn; two daughters, Marti Schroeder and husband Charlie of Parker, CO, Cindy Niemann of Lee’s Summit, MO; sister, Mary Eleanor Kratz of Mt. Pleasant, SC; brother-in-law, James Kuhn and wife Dorothy of Independence, MO; four grandchildren, Leah Schroeder of Parker, CO, Matt Schroeder of Myrtle Beach, SC, Kristi Niemann Shepard and husband Steve of Houston, TX, Julie Niemann Larson and husband Brian of Overland Park, KS; two great grandchildren, Owen and Riley Shepard; as well as five nieces and nephews. Contributions may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
