Laura “Peggy” Griffin passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side July 21, 2025. Peggy was born on August 19, 1933 in Clinton, Missouri. She and her two brothers were raised by their mother, Lorene and step-father Luther Millard.
She married Johnson Lee Griffin on Oct 24, 1949. They were married 61 years and to this union were born 5 children.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her greatest joy in life was doing for her family and others. She was well known as being multi-talented in areas too many to mention. She enjoyed spending her time reading her Bible and praying for her family and friends. She was a Prayer Warrior.
Peggy is survived by: (Daughters) Linda Scott, Debbie Richardson, Jayne Fasse and (husband) Greg, (Son-in-law) Sherrill Alvis, (brother-in-law) Jerry Griffin and (wife) Sue and (sister-n-law) Bethel Horning. She had 6 grandsons, Jim Scott (wife) Deanna, Brent Fasse (wife) Heather, Clint Fasse (wife) Rachel, William Grabb, Tommy Alvis, Cody Richardson and 9 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: (husband) Johnny Griffin, (son) Johnson L Griffin Jr “Jay”, (daughter) Dana Alvis, (mother) Lorene Anderson Millard, (step-father) Luther Millard and (brothers) Bob Horning and Chuck Burris.
A visitation will be held on Sat, Aug 2, 2025 from 1pm – 2pm. Funeral service at 2pm at Speaks Funeral Home in Independence, Mo. with burial to follow at Mound Grove cemetery.
