Billy Ray Lackey, 76, of Kansas City, MO passed away Monday, March 15, 2004 at his home, after a short, but hard fought battle with cancer. A visitation with Masonic Service will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel with a Independence, MO. A separate visitation will be held at Roller Funeral Home, Mountain Home, AR from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 19. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, at Galatia Church, Norfork, AR, with the burial at Galatia Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice. Billy was born on April 29, 1927 in Oilton, Oklahoma, youngest son of W.W. (Bill) and Pearl Lackey. He grew up in the Norfork, AR area and entered the Army when he was 18 years old. Billy was united in marriage to Esta Lee Staggs on May 14, 1945 and from this union 5 children were born. After marrying, he spent the rest of his working days in Kansas City where he was President of L&M Hauling for 50 years and a member of Local 101. He was a member of Heroine Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Ararat Shrine. He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Pearl; brother, Winfred; and mother-in-law, Dollie Staggs. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Esta Lee Lackey; 3 sons, Larry and wife Annette of Blue Springs, MO, Jerry and wife Toni of Kansas City, MO and Eddie and wife Trish of Odessa, MO; 2 daughters, Sharon Steward of Kansas City and Brenda Willett of Salem AR; 8 grandchildren, Adam and Larann Lackey, Rachel Lackey, Elyssa Lackey, Jesse and Jennifer Steward, and Jason and Chad Willett; 3 great grandchildren, Annaleece, Lawson and Riley; 5 step-grandchildren; and 15 step-great grandchildren.
