Anthony W. "Tony� Lampe, 88, of Independence, MO, passed away, Sunday, February 13, 2005, at Rosewood Health Center. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at the Mound Grove Cemetery. Donation to Restoration Trail Foundation c/o Community of Christ Church 1001 W. Walnut Independence, MO 64050-3562. Tony was born February 24, 1916 in St. Louis, MO to Anthony C. and Sophia A. (Mahler) Lampe. Tony had been a resident of the Groves since January 17, 2001. Prior to this, Tony lived in Columbia, MO since 1965 and was retired from the University of Missouri. At one time he owned & operated a Buick Dealership and was the Buick representative. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a former member of the Phoenix House board f Trustees in Columbia, former president of the Missouri Symphony Society, a director of the Mizzou Credit Union, former board member of the Lihona House in Columbia, former board member of the Boone County Historical Society. Tony was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints and served in the priesthood office of elder and later-evangelist-Patriarch. He served as the president of the Jefferson City District of the RLDS Church and later as a hospital minister in the Columbia area. Tony was preceded in death by his first wife Bernadine M. Lampe. He leaves a wife Gertrude (Hines) Lampe of Columbia, MO. A sister-in-law Ann Lampe; 2 nephews, James Lampe and Anthony Lampe of St. Louis, MO; a niece, Carol Eberling of Flower Mound, TX and close friends Blake & Sandy Roberson; and a host of friends and relatives.
