Lana “Joan” Egleston passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 61. Born to James and Hilda (Cooper) Vance on September 14, 1964, in Wyandotte County, Kansas, she spent her life spreading joy and creativity wherever she went.
After graduating from Fort Osage High School Joan dedicated many years of her professional life as a slot attendant at the Isle of Capri and Flamingo casinos, where she made countless memories. Her colleagues and patrons alike respected her for her and the warmth she displayed to everyone around her. She looked forward to every day being a new adventure and listening to the stories people would share with her.
Joan had a deep appreciation for family traditions. She was fond of cooking and baking and sharing family recipes with the younger generations This ensured that these culinary legacies would continue to be celebrated within her family. Her home was an artistic haven, where she found joy in painting ceramics and inviting children to help create beautiful wall art, fostering creativity in the younger members of her family.
Joan had an artistic spirit that extended beyond the home; she enjoyed live performances of all kinds and looked forward to attending the Renaissance Festival each year. Embracing the traditions of the Renaissance era with enthusiasm, she loved dressing up and fully immersing herself in the experience. Her adventurous nature led her to also travel extensively, exploring wineries across the country with her close circle of friends.
With a personality that many would describe as loud, engaging, and well-respected, Joan made a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know her. Her selflessness, ability to bring people together and passion for life will leave a lasting mark on her loved ones. She will be greatly missed.
Joan is survived by her loving wife of 27 years, Kimberly; her daughter, Amy Jennings (Zach); grandchildren, Melody, Louella and Kodah; sisters, Mary Wood and Judy Eckert; beloved furry companions, Bresayas and Peaches and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
