William “Hog” Lane, 67, of Independence, MO peacefully passed away Friday, December 9, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. Services will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will be prior to the service starting at 5:00 p.m. Cremation. Bill was born July 23, 1944 in Kansas City, MO to Harold Clyde and Norma Mae (Hanck) Lane. He started work at Lane Standard Service, and retired from Jack Cooper Transport as a car hauler. Bill was a member of the Eastgate Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Teamsters. Mr. Lane enjoyed traveling in his motor home with his grandchildren and playing Santa Claus for many. He spent many “male-bonding” days with his friends hunting and fishing. Hog was an avid race car fan, an active auction attendee who is known for his extensive Aladdin lamp collection. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Rachel (Urban) Lane; children Tracy Welsh and husband Steve, Becky Lane, John Lane and wife Tiffany; grandchildren Michael, Courtney, Madison, Katelynn, Wesley; great-grandchildren Ella, Maycee, Nolan, Braydon, Walter; brother Mike Lane and wife Kay; and by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Norma.
