Robert Wayne Large, 77 of Independence, MO passed away, Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011 at Liberty Hospital. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Burial will follow in Mt. Washington Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the chapel. Robert was the last child born to John Thomas and Jewel (Aston) Large at the old Anderson place in Sugar Creek, MO. He was an avid bowler at McBowl in Liberty and enjoyed playing pool, listening to music, and watching and coaching his sons and grandkids play sports. He was forced into early retirement in 1991 from Consolidated Freightways from complications of a massive stroke. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, John Thomas, Jr., Harold Lee “Pete”, Charles E. “Chuck”, Marvin R. and Lloyd; two sisters, Helen Large and Bonnie Bryant and a son, Robert G. Large. He is survived by; his loving wife of 59 years, Anna L. (Johnson) of the home; a daughter, Debra Marie Frazier (Ron); a son, Thomas Wayne Large (Audrey); a daughter, Laura Ann Large; eight grandsons, Jeremy Perrette (Lana), Rob Large, Dallas Palmer (Carissa), Josh Large, Zachary Large, Dalton Clemons, Mitchell Large and Peyton Vance; three granddaughters, Kassandra Dinwiddie, Kristina Otto (Pat) and Renatta Clemons-Ward (Cody); five great grandsons, Noah Dinwiddie, Tyler Large, Jace Perrette and twins, Quinten and Vincent Ward; one great granddaughter, Nichelle Large; a nephew, James E. Gilmore (Laila) and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. John Amick and the staff at Liberty Hospital for the wonderful care for the past 21 years.
