Larry Richard Hedeen, a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on July 14, 2024, in his hometown of Independence, Missouri. He was born on September 4, 1945, in the same town that held his heart throughout his life.

 Larry's professional journey was defined by his commitment and loyalty. For forty years, he devoted his time and energy to Union Pacific Railroad before embracing a well-deserved retirement. His strong work ethic and reliability left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of working alongside him. Beyond his career, Larry's true essence shone through in his interactions with others. Described as having a heart of gold, he was known for his boundless generosity and willingness to help anyone in need. His benevolent nature touched the lives of many and will be forever cherished by those who had the honor of knowing him. In his leisure time, Larry found joy in simple pleasures surrounded by loved ones. He treasured moments spent with his family, especially relishing the time shared with his grandchildren, who he so dearly loved. His passion for fixing things led him to spend countless hours repairing cars and crafting metal - skills that brought both satisfaction and pride. Larry also had a fondness for antique cars, tractors, and model railroads, hobbies that spoke to his nostalgia and appreciation for craftsmanship. A familiar face at Englewood Cafe, he found solace in daily visits where he not only enjoyed meals but also cultivated enduring friendships with fellow patrons.

 Larry's passing is preceded by his parents; Adolph "Byron" and Mary (Bedell) Hedeen, his beloved wife of 47 years; Jennifer "Jenny" Hedeen, his children; Shawn Hedeen, Troy Hedeen, and Darin Hedeen, and his sister; Nancy Stahan. His legacy lives on through is son; Scott Hedeen (Janeen), his sisters; Linda Friend (Mike) and Carol Bronson, his grandchildren; Nicole Silkwood (Dylan), Chasity Murphy (Justin), Chase Hedeen (and fiance Hailey Davidson), Shelby Hedeen, and Jason Hedeen, as well as nine great-grandchildren.

 Services to honor Larry's memory will be held at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence. Visitation will take place on July 22, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on July 23, 2024, starting at 10:00 AM with a graveside at Mound Grove Cemetery to immediately follow.
