Larry Frank Martin, born on March 9, 1952, in Wichita, Kansas, transcended the earthly realm on July 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy intricately woven with passion, family, and the roar of engines. A distinguished mechanic and the proud owner of Martin’s Auto Salvage, Larry dedicated his life to the rejuvenation of automobiles, channeling his expertise into restoring vintage cars and breathing new life into them, reminiscent of the glory they once embodied.
After his education at Van Horn High School, Larry’s career was merely a reflection of his love for all things automotive. He was not just a mechanic; he was a craftsman whose hands transformed rusted relics into magnificent machines that told stories of the past. His enthusiasm for cars was rivaled only by his deep-rooted affection for racing, a pastime he cherished and shared with his family. The thrill of competition coursed through his veins as he raced alongside his children and grandchildren, imparting his beloved number, #75, to each of the boys as they embarked on their racing journeys. Larry was an esteemed member of a vibrant racing community, a circle within which he cultivated lasting friendships and memories he held close. Beyond his friends, family, the racetracks, and his beloved cars, there lay an affection for a four-legged companion; his pup Dallas, who stood as a loyal friend by his side. This bond spoke volumes of his gentle nature—a testament to the love and kindness he extended to all around him. Larry’s life radiated warmth, from the grease-stained hands of a mechanic bringing life to machines, to the laughter shared with loved ones during countless races and gatherings.
Larry's passing was preceded by his parents, Jay and Biantha Martin; his beloved wife, Terry Martin; and his siblings, Bill Martin and Jo Lee. His legacy lives on through his children, James Dunnam, Billy Dunnam, Scotty Martin (Dawn), Teresa Bemboom (Joe), and Tiffany Martin; his grandchildren, James, Mindy, Rachel, Rayce, Gunner, Kaylob, Sebastian, and Kaylea; his great-grandchildren, Jayden, Henley, and Ryker; and his sisters, Connie O'Donnell and Kathy Wardle.
