James Lawson, 82 of Independence went to be with his Lord on Sun, Sep. 2, 2007. Memorial services will be 7:00 pm, Thu. Sep. 6, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church, 400 W. Maple, Indep. MO 64050 with the visitation being held from 5:00 pm until service time. Graveside service will be 10:00 am, Fri. Sep 7, 2007 at Md. Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to First United Methodist Church. Mr. Lawson was born on May 20, 1925 to Burrell and Erma Lawson in Independence, MO. He had been a Machine Operator with Union Wire and Rope retiring in 1987. He had also worked at George C. Carson and Sons Funeral Home for many years. Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed shopping for antiques and spending time with his family. He was a Navy veteran of WWII and a fifty-year Mason. He was preceded in death by a son, John Pugh in 1985. Jim is survived by his wife, Nancy Lawson of Independence, three sons, James Michael Lawson and wife Linda of Brentwood, CA, Robert Lawson and wife Donna of Round Lake Beach, IL and Tom Pugh of San Diego, CA. Three daughters, Patty Jo Gilbertson of Kansas City, MO, Kathy Presnell of Independence and Patty Jennings and husband John of Independence. A brother, John Lawson of Blue Springs, MO, eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
