Carolyn Ruth Lederer, 62 of Blue Springs, MO passed away, Monday, September 7, 2015 at her residence. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 11. 2015 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Burial will follow in Brooking Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the chapel. Donations may be made in her name to the Kansas City Cancer Center. Carolyn was born May 29, 1953 in Doniphan, MO to Timothy M. and Ida B. (Viers) Hensley. She graduated from public schools and received at Associates degree from Metropolitan Community College. She was a graphic designer for a publishing company. She taught adult literacy and was a member of the State Board of Literacy. She enjoyed photography, computers, making jewelry, tatting and traveling. She was a member of TOPS, was a Cub Scout Leader and Blue Bird Leader for the Girl Scouts. She was married to Arnold Lederer III on November 4, 1971, he survives of the home. Other survivors include; a son, Jason Lederer of Independence, MO; a brother, Ron Cote of Hemet, CA and 3 grandchildren, Taylor, Mollie and McKenzie.
