Louis E. LeGrand, 94, Independence, MO died Jan. 15, 2015. Services will be 2 pm, Monday, Jan. 19 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; burial at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-5 pm, Sunday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to Samaritan’s Purse. Louis was born Sept. 8, 1920 in Leavenworth, KS and graduated from East High School in Kansas City. He joined the U.S Navy during WW II. Following his return from the war, he joined Butler Manufacturing Co. and retired from there as Senior Tax Accountant in 1985. He was a talented artist who painted in watercolors and acrylics in the Cubist style. He also enjoyed reading and Bible study. He was a Baptist. Louis is survived by his wife of seventy-two years Mary LeGrand, of the home; daughters Sonna Rowe, Independence, MO; Diana Braun and husband Dick, Jamestown, TN; grandchildren Chris LeGrand and wife Lisa; Karen Blair and husband Randy; Ben Nigro and wife Sandra, all of Independence, MO; John Nigro and wife Megan, Grain Valley, MO; Christi Barnes and husband Gary, Galveston, TX; Jeff Clark, Temple, TX; Suzi Costlow and husband Randy, Gardner, KS; Scott Clark NY, NY; Alissa Bohannon and husband Matt, Overland Park, KS; sister Eleanor Shepard and husband Harold, Independence, MO; and many great-grandchildren.
