Edna Martha (Jungeblut) Leweke, 105, Levasy, MO, passed away Oct. 15, 2010. Services will be at 11 am, Monday, Oct. 18, 2010 at Napoleon United Methodist Church, interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5 – 7 pm, Sunday, Oct. 17 at Speaks Buckner Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Napoleon United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, Napoleon, MO 64074
Edna was born on a farm south of Napoleon, MO to Fred and Freida (Fritzemeier) Jungeblut on July 4, 1905. She was lovingly nurtured through her early years in this wonderful Christian home along with her older sister, Anita. She was christened in the Napoleon Methodist Church where she was a devoted member her entire life. Edna attended Pleasant Prairie School for the first eight grades and then went to high school in Higginsville, MO where she lived with the Woestermeyers, her aunt and uncle and two cousins, coming home on the train every other weekend. She graduated as Salutatorian of her class. She worked in Kansas City for a few years as a governess and housekeeper for several prominent families. She married Herbert Leweke of Napoleon, also a member of the church, on Feb. 24, 1926, at her home. They had been married sixty-three years when he died in 1989. They moved to a farm south of Levasy, MO where Edna still calls home. To this happy couple were born two children Ethel Carolyn in 1928 and Janice Faye in 1942. Edna was a dedicated and hard-working daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She also worked for several years at Reppert Funeral Home/ Reppert-Brown Funeral Home in Buckner, MO. She leaves her daughters Ethel Baker, of the home and Janice Flandermeyer, Sibley, MO; grandchildren Karen Croucher and husband Jerry, Sibley, MO; Ron Burns and wife Carol, Blue Springs, MO; five great-grandchildren Kimberly Nissanka and husband Don, Lee’s Summit, MO; Jeremy Croucher and wife Regina, Overland Park, KS; Christopher Burns and wife Kristi, Kansas City, MO; Dr. Sean Croucher, Odessa, MO; Chad Burns and Tom Morando, Boston, MA; step great-grandson Jerad Cummins and wife Emily Post, six great-great-grandchildren: Jasmine Nissanka, Andrew Burns, Ethan Burns, Lane Croucher, Carson Croucher and Caden Croucher.
Even at 105 years of age, she was still a gracious, kind and loving person and will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.
