Lewis L. Clark, 94, passed away on December 10, 2023. Visitation will be at Carson-Speaks Chapel on Monday, December 18, 2023 from 9-10am. Burial will follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial contributions be made to the Sugar Creek United Methodist Church in Sugar Creek, Missouri. 

Lewis was born July 31, 1929 near Mulberry, Kansas. Born to Cecil R. Clark and Beatrice I. (Odorizzi) Clark. Attended school in Independence and Kansas City, MO. Graduated Northeast High School in 1947. Worked at K.C. Board of Trade, Kansas City, Missouri. Pacific Railroad and Caterpillar Tractor Company, Peonin, IL prior to joining the U.S. Navy in 1949. Lewis spent two tours of duty with UF-19 Air Craft Carrier (CV-37) USS Princeton in Korea. After discharge in 1953, Lewis returns to Kansas City. He worked at BOP flight live helping launch F84 aircraft. 

While in the Navy, Lewis met and married Peggy Jolene Dunn. They were happy and married for over 50 years until Jody’s death in July 2004. Lewis and Jody had four children: John, David, Peggy, and Clifford. All four children married local spouses and are now grandparents. 

After leaving BOP, Lewis worked for TWA as a mechanic and later as a flight engineer on the Constellation aircraft. After leaving TWA, Lewis was employed as an aviation safety officer for the FAA. While working at FAA, Lewis was on loan to International Civil Aviation Organization. In this capacity he served as an Aviation Safety Advisor for the governments of Iran, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Suriname.  

Lewis is a member of the Sugar Creek United Methodist Church, life member of VFW, Sugar Creek Optimist, and Sugar Creek Moose Lodge. 

Lewis lost his beloved wife (Jody) after 50 years of marriage in 2004. He’s also preceded in death by his son; John "Jack" Clark and his grandchildren; Joshua, Lewis, Jason, and Jody. He is survived by his children; Dave Clark, Peggy Cox, Clifford Clark and his companion; Ida Worley as well as 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren.
