Leonard “Len” Liedeke, 83, of Warrensburg, died suddenly on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, after a massive stroke from which he never recovered. Visitation will be from 1-2pm, Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Memorial service will follow at 2pm at the chapel. Len was born on June 1, 1932 in Saginaw, MI to Carl and Ann (Roth) Liedeke. He was a proud veteran of the Navy. Len was a member of the Community of Christ Restoration in Holden for many years. Len was a man of great faith, something he lived everyday, instilling that faith in his children and granddaughter. However he also enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, just as mowing the grass, one of his favorite chores (as long as he had headphones!). Len was a farm boy at heart and never gave up his love of horses and cows, even raising his own beef. He was a great lover of music in all forms, from square dancing to playing the organ. Len was self taught and played by ear. He enjoyed watching music programs such as Porter Wagoner, Molly B’s Polka Party, and Presley’s Country Reunion. Most of these programs RFD-TV. Len was home in the garage making aquarium stands and tinkering, as well as the kitchen, sharing cooking secrets with the family. Len enjoyed all things Navy, including watching JAG on the television. His sense of humor will be greatly missed. Survivors include; sister Shirley Bluemer, daughters Darlene Crosby and husband Kent, Dee Wenzel and husband Todd; granddaughter Cristen Wenzel; adopted son Dwayne (Dutch) Liedeke; a host of extended family and friends. Len is preceded in death by his son Dale Liedeke, wives Nina Liedeke and Betty Rose Liedeke, and his parents.
