Ernest “Duke” Lierman, 87, of Independence, MO, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 18, 2010 surrounded by his family. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel. Graveside services 11:30 a.m. in Lexington Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association. Duke was born October 17, 1922 in Lexington, MO to Benjamin and Eva (Fletcher) Lierman. He retired from Armco Steel after 38 years of service as a millwright in 1987. Mr. Lierman was most recently a member of Noland Road Baptist Church. Duke is survived by his children Terry Lierman and wife Paula, Larry Lierman and wife Joyce, Wanda McDowell and husband Dennis, Randy Lierman and wife Paige, Lisa Wood and husband Dan; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Duke was preceded in death by his wife Anna Rae in 1994; and by two brothers.
