Nellie Likely

Nellie L. Likely, 93, Independence, MO passed away Sept. 18, 2011. Services will be 10 am, Friday, Sept. 23 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055; interment at Floral Hills Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 am before the service.
Nellie was born May 11, 1918 in Picher, OK. She and her husband were members of the Hee Haws Square Dance Club in Eastern Jackson County. She was also an artist and crafter. She participated in, and took a 2nd Place award at Art Shows at The Fountains while she was a resident there. She and her husband were “Snowbirds” for eighteen years and spent their winters in Mesa, AZ. She also loved children.
Nellie was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Thomas Jefferson Likely in 1996. She is survived by son Gerald Likely and wife Ruth, Blue Springs, MO; daughters Bonnie Orell; Marcie Corum and husband Tom, all of Independence, MO; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
