Linda Lou Dix, née Morales, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026, in Kansas City, Missouri, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on October 6, 1940, in Independence, Missouri, Linda led a life marked by dedication, generosity, and an enduring spirit of joy.
Linda’s early years were shaped in Independence, where she graduated from William Chrisman High School. She pursued higher education with determination, earning her Bachelor’s degree from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Her passion for service led her to obtain her Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, UMKC School of Law. Throughout her esteemed career as an attorney, Linda was especially noted for her unwavering commitment to charitable causes. She generously provided legal services pro bono to numerous charities and public broadcasting entities, embodying a spirit of altruism and community support.
Beyond her professional achievements, Linda’s personality endeared her to all who knew her. A passionate collector of bears, she found joy in the simple pleasures and was known for her incredible sense of humor and consistently cheerful demeanor. Her love of travel took her to many places, enriching her life with diverse experiences and stories that she delighted in sharing with family and friends.
Linda’s legacy is sustained through her loving family who survive her. She is remembered fondly by her son, Brendan Dix, and his wife Jaime, along with her two grandchildren, Carina and Zoey, of Sioux Falls, SD. Her siblings, Marilyn West and her husband Norm of Lee's Summit, MO, M. David Morales and his wife Marita of Wimberly, TX, and Paul Morales and his wife Rebecca of Lee's Summit, MO.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold G. Dix, and her parents, Milton F. and Virginia Avery Morales.
Linda Lou Dix’s life was a testament to kindness, professionalism, and an enduring zest for life. Her contributions to her community and the love she shared with her family will be remembered with respect and affection by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
