Clyde Lee Lingelbach

December 8, 1926 — July 11, 2015

Clyde Lee Lingelbach, 88 of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015. Services will be held Saturday, July 18, 2015, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. The family will greet friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. and the service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial with full military honors will be in Mt. Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Diabetes Association of Greater Kansas City, 6900 College Blvd., #250, Leawood, KS 66211. Clyde was born December 8, 1926, in Topeka, KS to George Daniel and Nora B. (Corbet) Lingelbach. He graduated from Springdale High School in Springdale, AR and later attended Hendricks College and the University of Arkansas. He was a public school teacher and librarian who started his career in a one-room school house Southwest City Missouri. He eventually retired from Park Hill School District in 1979 then went on to work as a librarian for Christ the King School. He proudly served in the US Army during WWII. In 1961, he was a charter member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Kansas City, KS and since that time has held the offices of deacon, treasurer, song leader, and Sunday school teacher. He was also a member of the University of Arkansas Alumni Association and an active member at the Fairmount Community Center. He is survived by a daughter, Karen Stallings and husband Ben of Kansas City, MO; a son, Ken Lingelbach and his wife Pam of Independence, MO; 4 grandchildren, Jordan, Bobbie, Phillip and Jacob; and a sister-in-law, Ruby Crow of Wichita, KS. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorotha M. Lingelbach, and a brother, Daniel D. Lingelbach.
