Rose Link Tobin, 97 of Independence, MO passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 at the Villages of Jackson Creek after a brief illness. She was born March 8, 1918 in Coffey County, KS to George and Martha (Schuch) Dornes. Rose was the youngest of 10 children. She married Julius Edward Link in 1937 and they were blessed with 7 children; Larry, Stan, Nelda Sue, Sherry, Julie, Jody and Rick. Julius died on April 13, 1964. Rose and Julius were longtime members of St. Mary’s Parish, where she was a member of the Altar-Rosary Society. After graduating from Jenny Lund School of Nursing, she was employed at Independence Sanitarium as an LPN until 1974. She then worked at Rest Haven until her retirement in 1980. She married Leslie Tobin on December 27, 1974 and they enjoyed their retirement years together until Les’ death on January 20, 2013. She is survived by her 7 children, 2 step sons and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews and will be missed by all. A rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m., and visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, November 13, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 600 N. Liberty, Independence, MO 64050. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Altar and Rosary Society.
