Lola Jean Griffith, age 84 years, passed away on August 17, 2025, in Independence, Missouri. Born on March 17, 1941, in Wiseman, Arkansas, to Earnest and Leona (Moser) Crouch. Lola's journey through life was marked by her profound love for her family, her successful career, and the simple joys of daily living.
A proud graduate of Violet Hill High School in Wiseman, Arkansas, Lola furthered her education by obtaining a certificate in business for accounting and bookkeeping. In her professional life, she dedicated herself to her role as an accountant for Bachkora and Associates, where she served with excellence from 1986 until her retirement in 2013. Lola embodied diligence and care in her work, building lasting relationships with colleagues along the way.
Lola was a woman of many interests and passions. She found joy in shopping, tended to beautiful flower gardens filled with roses and peonies, and was known for her exceptional baking skills; her apple pies and zucchini bread garnered much admiration. Among her beloved hobbies, Lola had a particular fondness for collecting owls, which became a playful trademark of her personality.
She treasured the memories created during community concerts on Sunday evenings at Railroad Park in Blue Springs and shared numerous adventurous trips to local casinos, delighting in the thrill of the experience. Her adventures continued, as she frequented her hometown in Arkansas yearly and traveled to see shows in Branson, Missouri. Above all, her proudest accomplishments were rooted in the love shared within her family. Raising her children and participating in countless family events surrounded by her loved ones brought her immense fulfillment.
Lola is survived by her beloved children, Bonnie Horton, Randy Horton (Meshelle), Russel Horton (Jilda), and Tina Cook (John). She also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren and eight adoring great-grandchildren, each of whom enriched her life in ways words cannot describe.
She was preceded in death by parents, Earnest and Leona (Moser) Crouch; her daughter, Jana Horton; and her son, Jerry Harp, whose memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved them.
Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of Lola Jean Griffith at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A visitation will take place on August 22, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM. Lola will be interred in Mt. Washington Cemetery following the funeral service.
The legacy of Lola Jean Griffith will endure through the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the countless memories created throughout her remarkable journey. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
