Betty Mae Long (Rice)

May 2, 1923 — September 27, 2015

Betty was born on May 2, 1923 in Brookings, South Dakota and on November 9, 1943 she married Robert W. Long in Independence, Missouri who preceded her in death in 1966.
Betty was a homemaker and after the death of her husband worked for 20 years as an auditor for Sears, she was very proud that in 20 years of service to Sears she never missed a day of work. After her retirement Betty volunteered for 20 years at the Harry S. Truman Library. In addition to her husband Betty was preceded in death by her daughter, Jeanetta Shaw, and sisters Fern, Marcella, and Lucille. Betty is survived by her son Robert Long and wife Valoree of Lexington, Son-in-law Don Shaw of Liberty, Grandchildren Whitnee Maycock, Jeff Shaw and his wife Anita and three great-grandchildren, Mary, Katie and Charlie. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Mount Washington Methodist Church or Spofford Home in Betty’s name.
