Obituary

Lorene Olivia Peterson passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, in Kansas City, Missouri. Born on April 20, 1960, in Los Angeles, California, Lorene graced the world with her presence for 66 remarkable years.

A graduate of Shawnee Mission High School, class of 1978, Lorene’s life was a blend of grace and dedication. She spent much of her time as a homemaker, finding joy and purpose in caring for her family and managing her household with love and devotion. Alongside her role at home, she applied her skills and knowledge in her position with RDS Equipment, where her expertise was highly regarded.

Lorene’s generosity and steadfast faith were the cornerstones of her character. Known for her honesty and endless support of those around her, she was a true woman of God. Her life reflected a selflessness that served as an inspiration to friends and family alike.

Lorene was a talented artist with a needle and thread—sewing was her passion and gift. She crafted costumes for her children, made doll clothes, quilts, and blankets, each piece imbued with her love and creativity. A lover of cooking, she delighted in nourishing her family and friends. Her community involvement was significant; she dedicated time as a Girl Scout leader and as a Sunday school teacher at Country Meadows Baptist Church in Independence, further reflecting her generous spirit.

Lorene found joy in simple pleasures: the fragrance of fresh flowers, dancing under the sun, and moments spent with family at the farm or the Lake of the Ozarks, places where memories were lovingly made and treasured. Her greatest treasure in life was her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother; she adored her family fiercely and fully.

Lorene's passing is preceded by her parents, Robert Joseph Carnnahan Jr. and Linda Oliva (Starr) Carnnahan; her siblings, Robert Joseph Carnnahan II and Susi Carnnahan; and her beloved grandmother, Edith Queen. Her legacy of love lives on through her devoted husband of nearly 44 years, Timothy Peterson; their children, Ashley (Peterson) Hahn, Hunter Peterson, Colby Peterson, and Logan Peterson, as well as her granddaughter, Adaline Peterson.

A Celebration of Life honoring Lorene will be held on May 31, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Blue Springs Elks Lodge, located at 100 NE Brizendine Rd, Blue Springs, MO 64014.
