Virginia M. Ludwig, 92, of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014. A visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 22nd at Carson Speaks Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel. Burial will be at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Virginia was born May 24, 1921 in Savannah, MO to Marshall and Oma Ellen (Hall) Sybert as one of six children. She married Donald S. Ludwig on September 18, 1949 and together they raised three children. They moved locally in 1954 where she worked as Legal Secretary for Charles Given. Virginia later worked for the Missouri West Conference of the United Methodist Church until retirement in 1989. She was a devoted mother and passionate volunteer to church and community. She was also the President of the UMC Women’s Group, USO Girl, and on the Board of Trustees for Christ UMC.
She is survived by son, Mark A. Ludwig (Linda) of Harrisonville, MO; son, Kurt D. Ludwig (Kym) of Woodbridge, VA; daughter, Janet A. Roberts (David) Prairie Village, KS; grandchildren, Marilee Phillips (Jamie), Michael Ludwig (Maria), Lacey Ludwig, Krista Poretz (Dan), Sherman Ludwig (Liz), Samantha Ludwig, Kelly Ludwig, Brice Roberts and Cole Roberts; great grandchildren, Hannah, Emily, Kade and Kaegan Phillips; Olivia and Annabelle Wolff; Vaughn Poretz, and Tristan Ludwig who is due this spring. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Florence Fern Frump, Grace Murphy, Homer Sybert, Darlene Mink, and Brice Milford Sybert; and her beloved husband Donald.
