Duane R. “Red” Lundquist, 83, Independence, MO. Services will be 10 am, Sat., Jan. 26, 2008 at Carson-Speaks Chapel; interment at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 �" 8 pm, Friday at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to The Groves Hospice.
Red was born July 13, 1924 in Independence and was a lifelong resident. Following graduation from William Chrisman High School, he enlisted in the Navy and was a veteran of WW II. He worked at American Oil Company in Sugar Creek from 1947 until he retired in 1981. He was a member of VFW Post #1000. He also had been a baseball and basketball coach in youth leagues in the community and was a big fan of the Royals, Chiefs and Mizzou Tigers. He was a member of Community of Christ College Park congregation.
Red was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Savilla “Billie” Lundquist, of the home; sons Alan Lundquist and wife Susan; Gregory Lundquist and wife Cynthia; sisters Lucille Stumpenhaus, all of Independence, MO; Reva Munjak, Sugar Creek, MO. sister-in-law DeLois Lundquist, Independence, MO; grandchildren Bradley Lundquist, Kara Lundquist, Olivia Lundquist and Brett Lundquist.
