Joseph Lutes

Joseph J. Lutes, 88, Independence, MO passed away June 4, 2010 at his home.

Joseph retired as an operating manager for Montgomery Wards Distribution Center after 43 years and 8 month. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII, and served with the Eleventh Armored Division as a platoon sergeant for 38 months. Joe earned three Battle Stars, four Bronze Stars and two awards from Belgium for his action in the “Battle of the Bulge”.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 32 years Reta Lutes; two sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include his son, David Lutes and his wife Donna of Grain Valley; daughters, Linda Williams and her husband Ty; and Brenda Treece all of Independence; eight grandchildren, Darren Lutes; Denise Groene and her husband Tyson; Kevin and Brandon Treece; Jason, Stephanie, Stacie and Justin Williams; and sister Dorothy Nelson of Story, AR.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Speaks Suburban Chapel: 18020 E. 39th St. Independence, MO. Burial to follow at Longview Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
