Lynda Kathlyn Smith

Lynda Kathlyn Smith, 75, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on November 1, 2026. She was born on August 21, 1951, in Independence, Missouri, to Charles and Kathlyn Smith. Lynda worked as a case worker for the State of Missouri. She was a generous, capable, and resourceful woman who could tackle just about any project, big or small. Whether working on home improvement projects or helping others, there wasn’t much Lynda couldn’t do. She had a special love for animals and children, and throughout her life cared for her many pets with extraordinary devotion. She treasured time spent with Rose Blankenbiller’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who held a special place in her heart. Lynda also enjoyed music, especially Carrie Underwood and Elvis Presley, and loved spending time with friends at the boats. Lynda is survived by her brother, Charles (Chuck) Smith of Independence; her cousin, Sana JoAnn Harmon of Independence; and her longtime dear friend, Rose Blankenbiller, who was like family to her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Kathlyn Smith. A graveside service will be held Friday, November 6, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery – Queen of Heaven, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64138.
