Ruth Amelia Maasen of Raytown, MO was called by her heavenly father to be with her best friend and husband on her 85th birthday, Sunday, November 15, 2009. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2009 at St. Regis Catholic Church, 8941 James A. Reed Rd., Kansas City, MO 64138. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass from 10-11:00 a.m. at the church. Cremation, inurnment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would be honored by memorial donations to the Shriner’s Hospital in St. Louis, 2001 S. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63131. Ruth was born to Harry C. and Florence May (Baker) Lindsey in Lansing, KS. She was raised on a farm in Leavenworth, KS and shared wonderful memories of being educated in a one-room school house. Ruth was united in marriage to Naval Aviator, John James Maasen, Sr., for sixty-one loving years. They had eight wonderful children, fifteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was a strong, active woman and her whole life was devoted to family, faith and helping others. Mrs. Maasen was a life-long friend to many and spent hours on the phone keeping in touch with everyone. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband John J. Maasen Sr., and her son Ronnie Maasen. She is survived by her children Gina Sproull, John Jr., Ruth Ann Chace, Gary, Bobby, Tommy and Danny, and by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her fun-loving spirit and wonderful pies will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
